Sector 9 Indulgence

YES I finally caved in, and bought myself a brand new longboard. No, it's not because everyone else is doing it, but because hell, I am too lazy to walk around, and being on wheels seems so much easier. Especially during the upcoming fall semester!

Yes this baby will soon be under my feet, taking me to distant places. For now, until Tuesday at least, I will be on foot, or in my car. So if you want to board with me, hit a girl up :) ferreal though. Someone still needs to teach me how to stop.

So, summer has been super gracious to me. I am currently glowing with my nice summer tan, spent time with almost all my favorite people, lingered at the beach more than last summer, and bought my newest indulgence. All of that mixed with working and soon summer school and El Camino, and hopefully some more dance classes. This upcoming Monday for BFFL Jason's birthday, we're going to do some quality bonding and spend a nice day at Disneyland! Perfection. Then my board arrives Tuesday. I've been able to balance most friends lately, I still haven't seen soulsistaaah Tina, in forever, hopefully we'll have a pinkberry date soon. All this texting should be relieved with a nice day of frozen yogurt. Charlene and Rochelle, aka BFFC and Bestizzle, are current staples in my life. Char is practically always in my room and Rochelle is busy so if I don't see her I call her.

:) Life is good. I can't complain. Maybe a little whining about how a nice boy would fit super well in the picture, but other than that, I'm all good. Not to mention the Lakers are up 3-2 against DONEver, hopefully we'll be taking it to the finals at game six, even if we are in their home turf, and not ours.

Neglected

Sorry for the lack of bloggage :( Been busy with finals. And celebrating the beginning of summer. So much I want to say but not enough time I guess?

So how about them Lakers?

Let's just rebound, work on defense, and then get the ball into the basket? Okay? Okay.

P.S.
I really think they should trade out Vujacic and Walton. To me, they've been more like dead weight to this team. Nothing much to offer.

Ariza

Thoughts on today's game:
I felt like the Lakers could have been more consistent for the first half they played with excellent defense and aggressive offense. Their lead was by far recognized by everyone, but they started to fall apart in between, then Nuggets and Melo started to just keep hitting the shots and the Lakers could rebound. I feel like the plays were ridiculously towards the last half. It comes down to my love/hate relationship with Luke Walton, Sasha Vujacic and Andrew Bynum. As players, I don't think they're playing to their full potential and they can certainly be replaced by Jordan Farmar, Josh Powell, and Kwame Brown, who offensively and defensively have been playing fiercely especially Jordan Farmar who as a point guard is on point as far as hitting the threes. Secondly, through my baby Trevor Ariza played excellently in Game 1, he was a very off on tonight's game. He needs to step it up. Kobe needs to watch his mouth, another technical isn't good for his game. Gasol and Odom are doing their "thang" as far as getting the ball in and defense. GG, except Gasol really needs to work on his free throws for the next game. They're going to foul you Mi Amor, be ready for it. Who's missing. Oh Yes D-Fish. No more risky shots, do what you must to get it in the hoop, no fancy dunks or over the top plays, get it in, score, its all that matters. Guard Smith, Martin and of course Melo and Billups. They are the biggest challenges and as long as they are either guarded and or screened while shooting (as you can see from Melo's shooting in the the first half) they can't make it in. Just continuously hustle throughout the game and don't let your guards down.

That is all. :)

Happy Summer

Dear Lakers,
Please be more consistent and don't mess with my emotions with the up and down games. I don't appreciate it at all.
Love,
Ida

P.S. Be aware Nuggets, we're coming to Denver.

That's It?

"I Love You, Too"

With the words of my Soul Sistaaa Tina Izumi through our Tuesday/Thursday text messages, she once again intertwined my life with that of Gossip Girl.

Tina: "I know girl but you can't hide forever. Don't be a Chuck Bass right? You're a Blair Waldorf. You take chances, and express your feelings"
Tina: "We're modern day princesses though. It's more like, you can't wait forever for your prince or you'll miss the shoe sale"
I loves her.

Cheers to summer everyone! :)

Shout out to my psychology group today who helped keep me sane. Molly, James, James, Anthony and Annie :) Hopefully we all did good on our final! I hope to see you guys over summer and the next few years at CSULB!

HELL.

ALSO KNOWN AS FINALS WEEK.

Be back when its all done :) Sorry for the neglect. Busy with mayhem and what-nots. Cheer on the Lakers against the DONEver Nuggets Tomorrow in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. I'm a little discouraged that the Celtics lost to the Magic, I would have wanted to see the Lakers pwn them this year after the ridicule of the playoffs last year (2008) Enjoy your vacation Celtics.

**Edit
I'm really good at keeping people. I'm really good at being stubborn. And I'm really good at forgetting and not forgiving. I'm also really good at crying.

Operation Lakers

Here we are, anticipating the much awaited Game Seven to determine which of the two, the Rockets or the Lakers will be playing the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. Laker fans all agree that this Game Seven should not have even been necessary had the Lakers played consistently with aggressive defense and a consistent offense. The faults are at the hands of the players themselves. They've fumbled multiple times in these semi-final games, but when they were on point, they were definitely on point. It's sad to look back and see their consistency was low. Ups and downs while the Rockets seemed to play with a consistent drive and determination, all which make us question do the Lakers really want it. There's some fire left in them, and hopefully its enough to make Game 7 a real game, and not a humiliation or an instantly gratifying win for Artest and his Rockets.

Word of advice for the Lakers:
1. Please do not play Walton. He needs to work up his game. I've seen him miss countless shots and make ridiculous plays constantly turning over the ball to the Rockets. Consider him a cheerleader maybe? He is rather pretty.
2. Jordan Farmar is way too underestimated, as far as I can see, his shots are far more consistent that the starters for the team. Increase his playing time means increasing the security of the ball staying in offense.
3. Stay far away from Mrs. Drama Queen Ron Artest. The technicals against Kobe? Unnecessary. We all know his intentions are far beyond legitimate.
4. Stick someone on Scola's ass. He needs to be guarded and defended at all times. Once he's got a clear shot, he's going to go for it. Advice? Play like our Rookie of the Year Derek Rose would. Get up in his face, block his shot and his view of the basket.
5. I know Odom has a bad back, and Bynum's luck is starting to run out, but both of these boys need to hustle. They are by far the strongest force of Defense along with D-Fish and we cannot succumb to a loss simply blamed on a injury *cough*BRUISE*cough*.
6. Please pass it to Kobe, Ariza or Farmar. We all know our man KB is a ball-hog but he's hungry for another Championship ring, and he knows where the ball is supposed to go. Just defend him and make sure Landry or Battier doesn't get in his way. Ariza and Farmar, consider him Kobe's second and third in command. Get them the ball if Kobe isn't open. Better yet. Get to them, then pass to Kobe. Rocket's might seem to sense a trend.

That's all. Not much to ask for right Lake Show? As long as theres no more humiliating defeats. I don't think Los Angeles can take anymore of it.

Tune in to Game Seven vs. Houston Rockets Sunday on ABC at 3:30 ET.

It's a HOME GAME. Support our boys in Purple and Gold and wave those Laker flags high. Can't let them think, we ain't supporting them.

Go AWAY Artest

This game is certainly challenging our Lakers. There is no way these Rockettes can annihilate these Lakers. There's too much at stake and too much to give up. Yes, both teams are hungry for this win but it looks like these Lakers are giving the Rockets a massive run for their money. Yes their lead was massive, but now its back to 9. I think the Lakers got the wake up call they were waiting for and they don't want another humiliation just like Game 4.

Things that annoyed me so far in this game:

1. Kobe's Technical. Excuse Artest but you are such a drama queen.
2. Who the hell is guarding Scola? And why isn't he fouled out yet.
3. Where is Lakers defense? What is Fisher doing? Bynum needs a check.
4. Why haven't they been shooting offensively and aggressively.
5. Battier is playing much too freely, someone get on him please!

A Few things I am proud of:

1. Farmar's shooting in general. Great job babyboy! Work!
2. Kobe's aggressive playing.
3. Thank you for getting Scola on his third foul. Foul him out please.
4. Pau Gasol you are a gift to the Lakers. That is all.
5. Artest got cut on his mouth. Inflict pain please. Thanks.

By the way I really don't appreciate when people SAY they watch the Lakers and start up on the Laker band wagon and they don't even watch basketball. Be a true fan, not just a follower. Don't hate on the Lakers when you don't even get the jist of it in the first place. That is all.

*Ahem Ahem*

Tonight is Game 6 of the Lakers vs. Houston conference semi-finals. Lakers are up 3-2. After the horrific humiliation over Houston, I truly wish that the drive and motivation and the fire of the Lakers are still there in order to guarantee one more win while in Houston. There's no more of this "Win at home" non-sense bull crap. This series should have been ended awhile ago so they better just finish it while in H-Town so that a game seven will NOT be necessary. Let's make sure our boys are supported in order to murder and once again humiliate the Yao-lee Rockets and maybe we'll have a special appearance by Mbenga in tonights game. Defense? Check! Offense? Check! Drive? Check! Let's go Lakers. Maybe we'll lead by 50 tonight.

BTW I discovered this new thing off TweetDeck called "12Seconds" and you can video off your webcam or cellphone for 12 seconds and share it through Twitter or even Facebook. Gnarly no? I think so.

Ida

St-St-Stubborn?

Dear Blog,

Is there a difference between forgetting and being stubborn? I feel like I've just decided to forget, yet while doing so I've been called simply stubborn? I can't help but be defensive that hey I'm just being me and doing all I need to do in order to grow but why then do I feel like people are right that I'm being stubborn. (I've obviously had a lot of time to think.) Let's say that maybe I am being stubborn and I'm doing this all wrong? How would forgiving and re-evaluating make everything right again? How can I just say, let the past be the past and move forward, if I can't live up to it. Do I just let it all go, in order to stop being stubborn, or do I keep forgetting and putting it in the back of my head at the expense of my dignity? I honestly don't know. I'm mentally and emotionally frustrated. The heart speaks for the brain, but the brain probably knows better. On a real note, I feel super immature. I think this could all simply be ended, could have a while ago rather than the whole, "Ew I refuse to talk to you" situation. I don't understand why we can't just be mature, then I have to point the finger to myself and be like, "Ida be mature". But for what? I don't see what I'd gain from it?

To move on or the repel back. Feels like such an easy question to climb forward or to succumb to the depths. Hiding or simply seeking.

Love,
Ida

Wake Up Call Lakers

So they really do want to win this. After much doubt on our boys, they're starting to build up the fire within themselves once again. It just took a little heat from the Rockets to really knock some sense into the Lake Show. They're playing with the passion and strength they needed in Game 1 and Game 4. Let's go Bynum, Ariza, Bryant, Gasol, Farmar, Walton, Odom, and Fisher. Let's not lose to them Yao-less Rockets more than once. It's hurting LA's pride and ego. We must, we must defeat the Rocks! Game faces, check! Passion, check! Work, check! Let's go boys!

P.S. Sorry I doubted you.

I Wanna Be Down

Dear Blog,

Sorry I've been neglecting you lately. I've been trying to get off my laptop and more outdoors, what with my new found hobby of boarding, taking more dance classes, reading on the beach, and swimming at the pool. So its meant blogging less. Well, the more I'm actively putting myself into "healthy" activities, the less dependent I am on the internet. Hopefully I can find a balance, along with my own long board to cruise on :).

Love,
Ida

On a side note, these Lakers and Rockets games have got me questioning whether or not the Lakers really want these championship rings. It feels like all of Los Angeles wants it more for them, than the Lakers themselves, as far how they're playing goes. They need to really redeem themselves because it looks as if people are starting to lose hope and pride in our purple and gold. Get 'em while we're at home!

So here's my current song obsession. Though its a throwback, Gabe covered it really amazingly(?) heh. I Wanna Be Down by Brandy.

Maybe

I might just have found the cure to my insufficient excitement, who knew it would be from Longboarding with two of my closest friends today. Hung out with Charlene and Kalvin throughout the afternoon evening ish and went boarding down Hermosa from 2nd to the Pier. Call me a noob but I think I was pretty alright as a "beginner" not once did I eat it. I might have just found a new hobby if I do say so myself. With the help of my boys, I'll have a board hopefully by next month. Saving up a few more dollars before I do so. :)

Ida is happy.

Lions, Tigers, and Bears

This song basically describes everything I feel in general whenever things get serious. I seriously say Amen everytime I hear it. RuSoul probably has the best cover of this song right now, the next would be Ramiele Malubay's.

"The most frightening thing is you and me..."

Side note:

Life is stagnant. Not much to do lately. Finals should be a kick in my ass but not so much. My classes have been way too breezy for me. No more challenges. Sure I'm having fun with friends here and there, meeting new people, spending time with the old, but it doesn't mean I don't see how routine everything is lately. Mid-life crisis again Ida? Not necessarily, just acknowledging the fact there's no real interest in life lately. I wonder what I can do to salvage this. Summer is coming up. New adventures, new trials, new everything hopefully. I smell New York in my close future, or saving up for Tickets to Chicago. Philippines and Manila in August supposedly. Anything to get me out of this shit hole I call Torrance.

Rest in Pieces.

Miley Cyrus

Today was my mental health day. I spent it well. Half of the day was spent lingering in bed, and the rest out and about shopping with mommy. Got a lot of things accomplished today: Nails fixed, room arranged, and two new purses to add to my collection (both of which I truly adore). While I was resting up, waiting for my mom to finish up something, I came across a Miley Cyrus article on the April issue of Glamour Magazine. For a lot of the time, I pretty much decided to hate on Miley and Miss Hannah Montana. I was never truly a "fan" until I read this interview. Not only is she down to earth, she has a mind of her own. She sticks to her morals and values and regardless of her "mistakes" and "falls" from the previous years, she knows how good she has it and she owns up to her wrongs. It's something I truly applaud her for. Not only did she confess to her boyfriend Justin Gaston and their relationship, she hid nothing of it. She was honest, she was true. She was nothing but herself. I might have judged her too soon way back when, and I was in no liberty to judge. What we se depicted on People or those nasty tabloid magazines are none to compare to the real person. If I have a daughter, Miley would be one of the stars I would actually want her to look up to. Not Hannah Montana, but Miley Cyrus herself. She spoke eloquently and intelligently, something I would have never expected from her. She is beyond amazing. With her being only 16 years of age, and quite possibly 30 years of experience already on her belt, she really is a force to be reckoned with. It's sad that a magazine article had to change my mind about her.

Congratulations Miley Cyrus on all of your successes and accomplishments and kudos in advance to everything you will acclaim in the future!

"I think at some point during everyone's life, you finally figure yourself out. I haven't done that yet. I'm still learning who I am... The minute I stop making mistakes is the minute I stop learning."

Whisper

I have failed to blog the past few days. I apologize for my absence. Nothing much is missed. Been catching up on school and actually going to school. Finishing papers, and whatnots have been more difficult than expected especially those damn nosey deadlines that sneak its way up to me. But I'm back for the most part, until finals, which means leave of absence again. Maybe, knowing me, this will be my procrastination outlet.

I've been avoiding some stuff lately. I've been a little ridiculous, I'll admit and maybe it's time for me to grow up and suck it up, but I just don't want to. It's easier to forget than to forgive even though the opposite is usually healthier to do. I think I need to put on a Brave Face and come to terms with certain situations and it should be healthier for me in the long run. Can't say I'm willing to do this whole heartedly, and I can't even say I'm going to do it, but the whole contemplation of it wins some brownie points right? So many "but"'s yet no "yes"'s.

Manny Pacquiao

As promised I would write a little tribute to our NEW CHAMP, well reigning champ, Mr. Manny Pacquiao on my blog. His defeat against Hatton was one for the record books, making PacMan one of the biggest forces to be reckoned with in the Boxing Industry. Can't say I'm surprised. Not to be conceited and pump that, "IT'S BECAUSE HE'S FILIPINO!" card but maybe luck truly is on his side, and that he possesses the skills necessary to manifest a victory every chance he gets. His utter annihilations against his competitors brings on the ire of thought, anyone can do what they put their mind to. His story, each endeavor, done with diligence and perseverance enforces the belief that we as individuals can do anything. His own dream within a dream can foreshadow any of our own future agendas we wish to accomplish. The sky is the limit, and to Manny PacMAN he's reaching higher than the stars. Congratulations Manny Pacquiao, you're truly unremarkable and your persistence, perseverance as well as your pride, makes us all reach for our own dreams.

:)

Get ready for the Conference Semi-Finals! Lakers play game one against the Houston Sockets err Rockets. Viva La Lakers! I'm still in remorse of the bitter defeat of the Chicago Bulls, but the Lakers are going to take it home this year. I can feel it. Let's get pumped.

P.S. I just realized I have a Sociology paper due on Tuesday. Frick. I hate College.

Fatal Attraction

My Fascination for this boy is getting Fatal.

Taylor Lautner. He's only 17... or was it 16. But damn baby boy got the face and the body. I mean he's no Zac Efron and he's far from a Phil or Darryl but those deep brown eyes and the dark skin makes me quiver a little everytime. Can't wait for New Moon.

Something's telling me I should blog about Manny PacMAN Pacquiao's astonishing accomplishment defeating light weight Hatton but at the same time, I would much rather relish on the joys of Taylor's gorgeous face and delightful body. I'll celebrate PacMAN's defeat tomorrow, while it sinks in, as I bitterly cringe in the defeat of the Chicago Bulls to the Boston Celtics, keep thinking, there's always next year. The first round was epic, I couldn't ask for anything more.

Breakup Breakdown

Goodbyes, easier said than done? They seem more difficult than necessary. And yet harder to even attempt. The thought of goodbyes whether to lovers or haters, friends or foes, loved and unloved, continue to gradually deteriorate our mental wellbeing. Regardless of if the goodbye is a personal choice, the difficulty of completely letting that individual go is never simple. Rather the more complex the relationship (for all intensive purposes) is, the more perplexed we are as to how to relinquish it from our system. I learned today, there's no such thing as a clean break, whether it be friendships, a relationship with a significant other, or even a simple "i quit" from work. There seems to always have to be "mess" in order for it all to end. My question is, is it always necessary? Can the clean break be possible? Can a goodbye be accomplished without the heartache, pain, and agony? Can our own mental well-being be saved as well as our sanity? Can there be a gratification in the "end" rather than regrets? Can there be a happy ending to the goodbyes we seem to call heartache and heartbreak? Can the answer possibly be yes to the question, "Can We Still Be Friends" or do we have to ignore that individual at all costs? Why must we sacrifice our own happiness and fulfillment in order to fill in the gap necessary for an end? Yet is an end really necessary? Is there no middle ground? Is there no safe zone? Is there no possibility for a future? Does it just end? Is it just goodbye? These are the questions that I ask myself.

"You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justified what could've, would've happened, or just leave the pieces on the floor, and move the fuck on."
Tupac Shakur

I Started A New Verse Like Poetry

Why do people continue to hold on? What causes our fear of letting go? And why do we continue choose to go the path that we know isn't the healthiest for ourselves? A matter of decisions and contemplations which all decide an individual's fate. The questions we have, the insecurities, and irreconcilable emotions, force us to cling to pain and to the familiar, rather than the incoherent and frightening possibilities of the unknown and the future. Whether it be for selfish reasons, or quite possibly unselfish excuses, this subconscious reflex continues in our system, I for one know I'm a victim of trying to cling on to things rather than moving on. Yet I find it difficult to come to a conclusion as to why I do such things. Here's the answer my psychology professor gave me. We constantly try to cling to things because we think..." I put so much effort into it, it would be a waste", though we know letting go is easier, we are afraid to see and possibly realize that those once endeavors were nonetheless worthless.

People have a hard time letting go of their suffering.
Out of a fear of the unknown, they prefer suffering that is familiar.
-Thich Nhat Hanh

Let go. Why do you cling to pain?
There is nothing you can do about the wrongs of yesterday.
It is not yours to judge.

Why hold on to the very thing which keeps you from hope & love?"
-Leo Buscaglia
