Breakup Breakdown

Goodbyes, easier said than done? They seem more difficult than necessary. And yet harder to even attempt. The thought of goodbyes whether to lovers or haters, friends or foes, loved and unloved, continue to gradually deteriorate our mental wellbeing. Regardless of if the goodbye is a personal choice, the difficulty of completely letting that individual go is never simple. Rather the more complex the relationship (for all intensive purposes) is, the more perplexed we are as to how to relinquish it from our system. I learned today, there's no such thing as a clean break, whether it be friendships, a relationship with a significant other, or even a simple "i quit" from work. There seems to always have to be "mess" in order for it all to end. My question is, is it always necessary? Can the clean break be possible? Can a goodbye be accomplished without the heartache, pain, and agony? Can our own mental well-being be saved as well as our sanity? Can there be a gratification in the "end" rather than regrets? Can there be a happy ending to the goodbyes we seem to call heartache and heartbreak? Can the answer possibly be yes to the question, "Can We Still Be Friends" or do we have to ignore that individual at all costs? Why must we sacrifice our own happiness and fulfillment in order to fill in the gap necessary for an end? Yet is an end really necessary? Is there no middle ground? Is there no safe zone? Is there no possibility for a future? Does it just end? Is it just goodbye? These are the questions that I ask myself.

"You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justified what could've, would've happened, or just leave the pieces on the floor, and move the fuck on."
